May 2026 found Circus Play in Dhaka, Bangladesh, working with Flourish Foundation‘s Circus of Hope project, facilitated by MMCC (Mobile Mini Circus for Children).
Jules was there for 3 weeks during which he helped train two groups of prospective circus Trainers.
It was a Training of Trainers project with the hope and intention that they will go on to run circus and play sessions in Slum areas of Bangladesh. We trained 6 days a week, one group in the morning and one group in the afternoon.
The weather was hot and humid with frequent rain and thunderstorms. The new trainees learned fast and well, it was a real pleasure to meet and work with them.
This project has yet to gain funding to start delivering sessions. Jules hopes to return later in 2026 to support the project work. Apart from training skills and how-to-teach elements, we made 10 hula-hoops, 60 juggling balls, 10 flower-sticks, all now in their hands as ‘workshop kit’.
Jules funded his flight, accommodation, food and added some money to cover the making of new props.
