You could join our project in Mae Sot
– teach circus, art, play –
and help support disadvantaged youngsters.
Circus Play will return to Mae Sot, Tak province, Thailand for its third season. We work with a local education foundation (Help Without Frontiers) and other schools and community groups to deliver Circus workshops, usually 6 days a week.
Would you like to join us for a few days, a week or a fortnight?
The skills we seek are in Circus, Art, Play, Music, and you should have experience of teaching those skills to children and young people. Our participants don’t speak English, but understand basic numbers and greetings. We always work with their teachers present and have always found that language is not a big barrier to learning.
You’ll need to be resilient enough to hop into our car, and be driven to a school for sessions twice a day in two locations. The weather will be hot and most of our spaces are outdoors and dusty.
You’ll be supervised by our Project Manager, a lead circus trainer and a teacher from the school is always present to supervise all of us. No one is left alone with a student!
Sessions last 90 mins and travel time is between 15 mins and one hour each way. An “average” day starts at 8am: workshop 9 -10:30, lunch, workshop 13 -14:30, home 15:00.
We have the use of a large studio space which you can use to train and relax in when we aren’t delivering sessions.
We will provide lunch plus a per diem of THB400 each working day which you can use as you like e.g. for food and/or hotel room.
You’ll need to cover all other costs including getting to Thailand and to Mae Sot and away, accommodation. We can’t provide any visa support. We don’t provide any form of insurance for travel or personal/professional liability. Our project is informal. We provide all the circus props and training as appropriate.
If you are interested, please send a CV and covering letter to info@circusplay.org. We’ll try to answer any questions, describe the details and try to provide all sorts of information to help you have a great trip.
Our planned project dates are October 14th – Dec 20th 2025.
