Hello,
We want to tell you about the extraordinary Circus Play Project starting soon on the ThaiMyanmar border and ask for your help.
Since 2014 Social Circus Myanmar delivered workshops in Yangon every dry season until
Feb. 2020. That’s a lot of fun and new skills! We worked with thousands of young people
from across all social, ethnic, religious communities. The 2021 military coup prevents our
return to Myanmar. So we’re going to the Thai border town of Mae Sot, where thousands of
people are living in very difficult conditions after escaping the ongoing situation in
Myanmar.
Working with Help Without Frontiers, which provides education and support to children and
communities in more than a dozen locations around Mae Sot, Circus Play workshops will
bring new skills and fun to children and young adults from Myanmar and the Thai
community, We’ll be making props locally and training a group of young adults as Circus Play
tutors so they can continue to play and teach others ongoing.
You can help us to make this exciting project a great success. We need to raise $5000 now
to cover some of the project costs including transport for workshops, prop-making, per
diems for trainee tutors and logistics costs.
“This is a great idea – it’ll help the children’s wellbeing and give them an alternative to the
dire circumstances in which they are living.”
– Sally Thompson, former executive director of The Border Consortium.
There’s lots more information about the project on our website circusplay.org. Any help you
can offer will be greatly appreciated.
All the best,
Jude Smith, Circus Play Fundraiser.
